The Gozo Regional Council is pleased to announce the commencement of works on the restoration and expansion of its new seat in Palm Street, Victoria. Restoration works are being overseen by Architect Edward Scerri. The Region Council has also sought design consultation from Michele Tufigno. The project will see the complete renovation of an eighteenth-century townhouse with the preservation and reintroduction of vernacular decorative elements, as well as its expansion to consolidate the Gozo Regional Council offices into one building for the better service of the Gozo Region.
The President of the Region stated that the renovation works to be undertaken by the Gozo Regional Council will lead by example how vernacular architecture can be conserved and reutilised to reflect the demands of the new purpose of this building.
